life coaching questions

  • What is the difference between Life Coaching and Therapy?
Life coaching and therapy serve different purposes. Therapy is typically provided by mental health professionals usually with doctorate qualifications, with a primary focus on addressing and resolving emotional, psychological, and mental health issues. It often involves delving into the past to help individuals overcome trauma, anxiety, depression, and various mental health concerns. In contrast, life coaching is a forward-looking, action-oriented approach that assists individuals in setting and achieving personal or professional goals. While life coaching can touch upon the past if it proves beneficial, it primarily centers on the present, embracing the moment and looking ahead to the future. As a dedicated Life Coach committed to the well-being of my clients, if, during our initial conversation, it becomes clear that life coaching may not be the most suitable approach for your current needs, I will provide honest feedback. In such cases, I'll guide you toward finding a therapist or counselor who can better address the specific support you require Life coaching can be highly effective, but its timing is crucial. If you've experienced a traumatic event and haven't received professional support to address the trauma, life coaching may be akin to putting a band-aid on a split hose pipe. Sooner or later, those unresolved emotions are likely to resurface, and you'll need to confront them. However, if you've received the appropriate support or have allowed time to work as a healer for you, then life coaching can indeed help you shift your focus to what lies ahead. It can assist you in setting and achieving goals, improving your present circumstances, and building a brighter future.
  • Does life coaching actually work?
Yes, it does, but its effectiveness is closely tied to your own efforts. The responsibility to take action lies with you; no matter how skilled a life coach may be, they can't do the work on your behalf. A life coach's role is to help you identify and overcome obstacles, often rooted in your own beliefs, and assist you in moving forward. However, it's crucial that you take the action steps discussed during your sessions. Engaging in life coaching, or even attending free masterclasses, without a willingness to implement techniques and strategies is akin to joining a gym but never working out. The gym may have all the equipment and trainers to help, but if you want to see real change, you must put in the effort. Life coaching is highly effective when you're committed to making positive changes in your life. Many clients have experienced significant improvements in various aspects of their lives through life coaching. It is really important that you and your coach get along well, that you find a coach who has a personality and style you like, I encourage you to book a free clarity call before investing your money to check that it feels like the right connection for you.
  • What are the benefits to online coaching?
Online life coaching via video call offers several advantages: Convenience: You can attend sessions from the comfort of your own home. Accessibility: You can connect with a life coach that is right for you rather than someone who is in the same location as you. Flexibility: Online coaching often offers flexible scheduling, making it easier to fit into your busy life. Reduced Cost: You won't have the associated costs with travelling to a specified location. Additionally Zoom video calling is free for you to use as it is the coach who pays for the subscription.
  • Do I need a life coach, can't a good friend help me?
While good friends can provide valuable support and advice, it's important to understand that life coaching offers a structured, professional approach to personal growth. A life coach is skilled at asking probing questions, offering objective insights, and ensuring you remain accountable for your goals. They bring an external perspective and a specialized skill set dedicated to helping you achieve your aspirations, which can differ from the support a friend can offer. Maintaining the boundaries between friendship and coaching is crucial. Enlisting a friend as an unpaid life coach can strain the friendship and may not provide the objectivity and effectiveness that a professional coach can. When you hire a coach, they are fully prepared and committed to focus their attention on your goals and outcomes. On the other hand, when confiding in a friend, you may not always know their capacity to provide the support you need on any given day. Sharing in a vulnerable moment and receiving a less-than-supportive response can strain the friendship. Life coaches generally avoid coaching close friends or family members for the same reason. A life coach can delve deeper with thought-provoking questions, creating a supportive and growth-oriented environment without preconceived expectations. After several weeks of coaching, you are likely to experience positive changes in your life, and your friends may become intrigued by your progress, seeking to learn from your experiences.
  • Distance Reiki - What is it and does it work?
Distance Reiki is a form of energy healing that transcends physical proximity. It operates on the principle that energy is not bound by space or time. During a Distance Reiki session, the practitioner channels healing energy to the recipient, regardless of their location. This is achieved through the practitioner's focused intention and the use of symbols or techniques taught in Reiki. The energy is then sent to the recipient, promoting relaxation, balance, and the body's natural ability to heal itself. Distance Reiki has been associated with a variety of positive outcomes, including: Stress Reduction: It can help to alleviate stress and tension, promoting deep relaxation. Pain Management: Deep relaxation can help to reduce pain within the body. Enhanced Well-Being: It can boost overall well-being, by feeling calmer you may notice an improvement in your mental and emotional wellbeing. Emotional Healing: Distance Reiki can assist in processing and releasing emotional blocks. It is particularly comforting when going through intense emotions, such as grief. Improved Sleep: Many recipients experience better sleep and increased energy. Support for Healing: It complements traditional medical treatments by supporting the body's natural healing processes through relaxation and connection with your body. To make the most of your Distance Reiki experience, consider the following tips: Choose a Quiet Space: Find a quiet, comfortable space where you won't be disturbed during the session. Put your phone on silent, add a "do not disturb" sign to your door and create a peaceful atmosphere with soft lighting and calming music, I find binaural beats work really well. Set an Intention: Before the session, set a positive intention for what you'd like to achieve or release during the session. This can help focus the energy. Relax and Be Open: During the session, simply relax and be open to the experience. You don't need to do anything specific; let the energy flow naturally. Keep Cosy: Have blankets and cosy socks nearby so you can ensure you are the right temperature for you. Some people feel a little colder or hotter during and post Reiki, so it is important to have layers you can add or remove so that you are comfortable. Trust the Process: Trust that the healing energy will work for your highest good. Release any scepticism and allow the energy to do its work. Reflect & Relax Afterwards: After the session, take time to reflect on your experience. Journaling or simply sitting quietly can help you process any insights or sensations. Rest if needed. Stay Hydrated: Drink water to help facilitate the energy's movement within your body. Distance Reiki can be a deeply personal and transformative experience. It's essential to approach it with an open mind and a willingness to receive the healing energy. Each session may bring different sensations or insights, so be open to what arises during your sessions. 1:1 Distance Reiki vs. Group Distance Reiki: In a 1:1 Distance Reiki session, the focus is entirely on you and your specific needs. You can express what you'd like to work on or any particular intentions you have in mind. The practitioner can then channel energy with your specific goals in mind, creating a highly personalized experience. If guided meditation is included, it can be tailored to support your unique journey. In a group Distance Reiki session, the intention is generally set for the highest good of all participants. While there might be a themed session advertised, such as forgiveness or an abundance of health theme, the energy is directed toward the collective well-being of everyone involved. Participants can join these themed sessions to align with a specific intention or simply embrace the general positive energy for their benefit. Distance Reiki with Guided Meditation: I practice Usui Reiki, but I approach my sessions in a unique way that sets them apart. In addition to channelling Reiki energy, I take you on a journey with a guided meditation that opens up the space for reflection, healing, and for you to enter a relaxing dream-like state, during your journey there's a moment where I step back and stop talking, allowing you to immerse yourself fully while I concentrate on the Reiki healing for you. I later guide you gently out of the session. I find this approach deepens relaxation and often brings valuable insights upon awakening.
